PRIVACY POLICY
Who we are
Compassionate Care Private PSW Services (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides private personal support worker services to individuals and families in Ontario, Canada. Our website address is: https://www.ontariohomecarepsw.ca.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in compliance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
What personal information we collect and why we collect it
When you visit our website, contact us, or use our services, we may collect personal information such as your name, address, phone number, email address, demographic information (like age or gender), payment details (if applicable), and technical information such as your IP address and browser type. If you choose to provide it, we may also collect personal health information needed to plan and deliver your care safely and effectively. With your consent, we may share this information with other health professionals or caregivers involved in your care.
Different jurisdictions have different legal obligations of what must be included in a Privacy Policy. You are responsible to make sure you are following the relevant legislation to your activities and location.
Embedded content from other websites
Some pages or articles on our website may include embedded content (for example, videos, images, or articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you visited those websites directly. These third-party sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor how you interact with that embedded content, especially if you have an account and are logged in to those sites.
How we use and share your information
We use your personal information to provide and manage our PSW services, communicate with you about your care, process payments if applicable, maintain and improve our website, and meet legal and regulatory obligations.
We may also use your information to protect against fraud or misuse. We do not sell your personal information. We may share it only with trusted third-party service providers who help us deliver services, such as secure cloud storage providers or payment processors.
If required by law, we may share your information with legal or regulatory authorities. We may also share your data with our professional advisors, such as accountants or legal counsel, if needed. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How we protect your information
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information and personal health information through secure servers, encryption, administrative safeguards, and staff training. We limit access to your information to only those who need it for care or business purposes. Although we take appropriate steps to protect your data, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
How long we keep your data
We keep your personal information only as long as needed to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. For example, if you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For any users who register on our website (if applicable), we also store any personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. When personal health information is no longer required, it is securely destroyed or anonymized.
Your rights
You have the right to request access to your personal information, to ask for corrections if any information is inaccurate or incomplete, and to request that we delete your information if possible and appropriate under the law. You can also withdraw your consent for certain uses of your information, such as receiving marketing emails. To exercise these rights, please contact our Privacy Officer using the contact details below.
Direct marketing and anti-spam
We comply with Canada’s Anti-Spam Law (CASL). We will only send you promotional emails if you have given us your express consent or if it is otherwise lawful to do so.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us directly. However, we may still send you service-related communications, such as appointment reminders or important updates about our services.
Complaints and contact information
If you have any questions or concerns about how we handle your information, or if you wish to file a complaint, please contact our Privacy Officer in writing. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario for additional help.
